Small group PT FAQs: everything first-timers ask before booking
If you're considering small group PT for the first time, you probably have a list of questions before you're ready to book. Here are the ones we're asked most, answered directly.
What is small group PT, exactly?
It combines the individual attention of personal training with the community and lower cost of training alongside others. Groups are capped so coaching stays real, technique correction, load adjustment and check-ins for everyone in the room, every session.
How is it different to a class?
A class means everyone does the same thing at the same pace. Small group PT means everyone follows their own plan, coached individually, within the same session and same room.
How much does it cost?
Pricing is personalised, roughly £24 to £28 per hour as a guide, because what you need genuinely varies. A coaches chat will give you an exact price based on your goals and how often you'd realistically train.
How long are sessions?
An hour, giving enough time to warm up properly and get real coaching cues, rather than being rushed through reps.
Is it suitable for complete beginners?
Yes, most of our members didn't come from a strong gym background. You don't need to be fit to start, you need to be coachable and willing to learn.
Will an existing injury be a problem?
Not usually. Sessions are adapted to your current capacity, and where you're working with a GP, physio or rehab specialist, we're happy to work alongside their guidance so training supports your recovery.
What if I can't make a session or have a busy week?
There's no need for 24 hours' notice like traditional PT. There are plenty of slots to reschedule, and sessions can roll over if life genuinely gets in the way, rather than simply being lost.
Do you offer unlimited training?
No. The maximum is four sessions a week, and most members train around three. Evidence shows that's more than enough for strength, health and body composition, unlimited access rarely gets used and often just creates guilt.
What areas does Soph-Fit serve?
We're based on Spring Lane in Radcliffe, serving members from Whitefield, Prestwich, Bury and Ainsworth.
What's included in the 6-week trial?
A dedicated coach from day one, structured sessions within our 12-week training blocks, weights tracking, nutrition guidance, and a proper face-to-face progress review at the end.
